Abstract

This application brief highlight the analysis of nicergoline using Symmetry C18.

Introduction

Nicergoline is an ergot derivative used to treat senile dementia and other disorders with vascular origins. It decreases vascular resistance and increases arterial blood flow in the brain, improving the utilization of oxygen and glucose by brain cells.

Experimental

HPLC Method

Column:

Symmetry C18, 3.9 x 150 mm, 5 μm (p/n: WAT046980)

Mobile phase:

Acetonitrile/100 mM sodium acetate, pH 5.0 40:60

Flow rate:

1.0 mL/min

Injection volume:

10 μL of 30 μg/mL nicergoline

Detection:

UV @ 227 nm
