Guanidine Hydrochloride (GuHCl) is a strong denaturant and chaotropic agent that is used to unfold a protein from it's three-dimensional structure into it's linear form which is also known as protein unfolding. Protein unfolding is routinely performed in protein digestions such as tryptic digestions, to allow access for the enzyme to cleave its respective residues to allow for a complete digestion. GuHCl is provided in an amber glass bottle with screw top cap with 5.7 g GuHCl in powder form and comes as 1/pk enough to run approximately 48 samples. This is provided as a supplemental reagent to the PeptideWorks Tryptic Protein Digesiton Kits for customers who would like to purchase individually. To prepare: Dissolve contents of 5.7 g bottle in 4 mL of 100mM Tris HCl (pH 7.5) to yield approximately 8.3 mL of 7M GuHCl. Please note: 100 mM Tris HCl is not provided and must be purchased and prepared separately. Refer to the PeptideWorks care and use manual for more detailed infomation regarding use and storage conditions.
