Product Description

These reversed-phase columns contain Waters patented embedded polar group technology that “shields” the silica’ residual silanol surface from highly basic analytes. The reduced silanol activity for the SymmetryShield RP18 column significantly improves peak shape and resolution.

Symmetry Shield RP18 Column, 100Å, 3.5 µm, 4.6 mm X 75 mm, 1/pk

The SymmetryShield RP18 Column is based on Waters' unique integrated polar group technology, which effectively protects the leftover surface silanols of silica against extremely basic analytes. The activity of surface silanols is further reduced due to the unique column characteristics and the embedded polar group's closeness to the silica surface, resulting in better peak shape and resolution.

The SymmetryShield RP18 Column is ideal for very aqueous mobile phases, especially when low organic mobile phase conditions are required. Because the implanted polar group preserves the wetted-pore surface, the SymmetryShield RP18 Column is designed to prevent any pore dewetting. The equipment's design ensures that your analyte is retained, eliminating the need for a lengthy re-wetting and column re-equilibration procedure.

This lab equipment is designed to provide the industry's smallest ligand surface coverage (ligand density), resulting in exceptional reproducibility. Batch-to-batch and column-to-column repeatability is improved thanks to their high operational capacity and negligible resolution shifts. The Symmetry Shield RP18 Column is also built to endure a long time and help you save money on lab equipment by providing optimal performance. It combines two major aspects that influence the column's lifetime: the packing material's hydrolytic stability and the packed bed's mechanical stability.

We also recommend checking out the Symmetry Shield RP18 VanGuard Cartridge, 100Å, 3.5 µm, 3.9 mm X 5 mm, 3/pk; SymmetryShield RP18 VanGuard Cartridges are used to extend analytical column lifetime and performance by removing particulate contamination from the mobile phase stream. You might also be interested in reviewing the Reversed-Phase QC Reference Material; the Quality Control Reference Materials portfolio is a unique collection of standards and mixtures. These products allow the user to evaluate and benchmark their chromatography system before the analysis of critical material. The products in the portfolio are all specially formulated based on the expertise of Waters scientists. The Reversed-Phase QC Reference Material is a significantly complex reference material mixture in that it contains compounds that could be challenging to separate. It is designed to provide this complexity and is appropriate when complex assays are routinely performed. It can be used with a variety of column chemistries, dimensions, and system hardware.

What Is The Recommended pH Range For The Symmetry Shield Column?

The Symmetry Shield RP18 Column can easily operate within a pH range of 2 to 8. However, you should note that working at the extremes of pressures, pH, and/or temperatures will result in shorter column lifetimes.
