XTerra Shield RP18 Column, 125Å, 5 µm, 3.9 mm X 150 mm, 1/pk
With a combination of Waters’ patented embedded polar group technology, Hybrid Particle Technology, and Shield Technology to deliver the best possible peak shape to chromatographers. As general-purpose columns, the XTerra Shield RP18 Column allows for fast method development enabled by unique selectivity and water wettability, even in 100% aqueous mobile phases. The combination of a greatly widened pH range for selectivity choice and the added selectivity choices of two ligands form the basis for successful method development.
These columns are the choice of drug discovery scientists, who can rely on the speed, resolution, and capacity in XTerra Shield RP18 Columns. Automated synthesizers are capable of producing thousands of potential lead compounds per day, which often leads to sample backups in drug laboratories. XTerra columns help to eliminate these backups by characterizing, analyzing, and purifying faster than other lab equipment.
When working with high output automated synthesizes, automated LC/UV/MS methods are often employed. XTerra Shield RP18 Columns were created for LC/MS with ultra-low MS bleed from pH 1 to 12, without compromising the necessary speed and resolution to fully utilize the selectivity, sensitivity, and structural characterization capabilities of modem MS.
The Hybrid Particle Technology used also provides longer column lifetimes across a much wider pH range when compared with silica-based columns. Lifetimes can be further extended through the use of an XTerra Shield RP18 VanGuard Cartridge, 125Å, 5 µm, 3.9 mm X 5 mm, 3/pk. XTerra Shield RP18 Columns allow for separations to be run over extended periods of time at a high pH without causing a loss of retention time or deterioration of peak shapes.
Who Should Use XTerra Shield RP18 Columns?
These columns are used successfully across a range of laboratory needs due to the enabling science of Hybrid Particle Technology. Those in the life sciences generally prefer XTerra columns. Drug discovery scientists benefit from the DMSO injection resistance found in the XTerra particle, while method development scientists will benefit from being able to operate at any necessary pH to achieve optimal selectivity facilitated by the column’s wide pH range. Isolation and purification scientists have cited the ability to load up to 60 times more material per injection based on the increased loading capacity found in XTerra family of columns.
