Atlantis Silica HILIC Column, 100Å, 3 µm, 2.1 mm X 100 mm, 1/pk
Designed for challenging separations involving polar compounds, the Atlantis family of columns from Waters provide retention of analytes that are too polar to be retained by traditional reversed-phase chromatography methods. Compared to these methods, HILIC separation mechanisms offer orthogonal analyte selectivity. The Atlantis Silica HILIC Column can be used in combination with high organic mobile phase (>80% acetonitrile) in order to provide this retention of polar analytes.
Atlantis Silica HILIC Columns retain and separate these very polar, water-soluble basic organic compounds, including actives, metabolites, and peptides through HILIC methods and improved LC/ESI-MS responses that are directly compatible with SPE solvents and complementary selectivity. This is done while offering long column lifetimes and universal compatibility with other lab equipment, including LC detectors and excellent reproducibility. Lifetime can be further extended by pairing with an Atlantis Silica HILIC VanGuard Cartridge, 100Å, 3 µm, 2.1 mm X 5 mm, 3/pk.
By eliminating the laborious and time-consuming steps using other chemistries, laboratories experience dramatic increases in sample throughput when using Atlantis Silica HILIC Columns. Because organic solvents like acetonitrile and isopropanol are considered weak solvents, they can be injected directly onto Atlantis Silica HILIC Columns, leading to improved analyte recoveries, increased sample throughput, and lower limits of detection.
All Atlantis columns are manufactured using ultrapure reagents in order to control the chemical composition and purity of the final product. Manufacturing is done in a cGMP, ISO 9001:200 certified plant with each step conducted within narrow tolerances. Each column is individually tested and includes Certificates of Batch Analysis and a Performance Chromatogram.
What Injection Solvents Should I Use With Atlantis Silica HILIC Columns?
When possible, injection solvents should be 100% organic solvents with water eliminated or minimized. Choose a weak HILIC solvent such as acetonitrile, isopropanol, methanol, etc. A generic injection solvent is 75:25 acetonitrile methanol, which is a good compromise between analyte solubility and peak shape. Water and dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) should be avoided as injection solvents as they will produce very poor peak shapes. You can exchange water or DMSO with acetonitrile by using reversed-phase solid-phase extraction when possible. If not possible, dilute the water or DMSO with organic solvent.
