XBridge BEH C18 Column, 130Å, 5 µm, 4.6 mm X 250 mm, 1/pk
As part of the trusted XBridge solution, the XBridge BEH C18 Columns are there to help with your most challenging chromatographic separations through innovative bonding, end-capping, and particle synthesis with superior manufacturing and quality. These lab equipment offer the flexibility to work over a wide range of mobile phase pH and temperature, unparalleled column lifespan, and seamless migration to UPLC technology where needed.
BEH technology gives this column the most modern benefits, allowing the full power of pH to be used in routine methods development. This product allows chromatographers to scale seamlessly between UPLC, analytical, and preparative scale chromatographic platforms.
The XBridge BEH C18 Column is a lauded pioneer of methods development and can be used for a wide range of separations. By using trifunctional bonding and advanced end-capping, great reproducibility and performance throughout the column's lifetime across the pH range are all possible. This allows the XBridge materials to deliver excellent peak shape, high efficiency, and excellent stability for acidic and basic mobile phases.
Under accelerated low-pH test conditions, XBridge BEH C18 Columns show low retention loss and greater hydrolytic stability in cases of low-pH. To ensure high-pH stability, XBridge particles incorporate ethylene bridges into the silica matrix that resist particle dissolution.
With improved pH stability that increases column lifetime, improved column reliability, and maximized particle efficiency, XBridge HPLC columns are designed to help you maximize productivity. For robust HPLC methods, seamless UPLC transferability, and preparative scaling for isolation, the versatility of these columns will provide you superior results.
XBridge BEH C18 VanGuard Cartridge, 130Å, 5 µm, 3.9 mm X 5 mm, 3/pk and columns follow the Waters standard of superior batch-to-batch reproducibility and consistent results between laboratories. All XBridge columns are manufactured in our highly certified facilities and undergo batch and individual testing to ensure every column meets all industry standards.
XBridge BEH C18 Column, 130Å, 5 µm, 4.6 mm X 250 mm, 1/pk FAQs
What makes the XBridge BEH C18 Column different from other C18 columns?
The XBridge BEH C18 Column stands out due to its bridged ethyl hybrid (BEH) particle technology, which enhances its chemical and mechanical stability. Traditional C18 columns often degrade under extreme pH conditions or high-pressure environments, but the BEH structure provides superior durability, making this column more resistant to column degradation and loss of performance over time.
What types of compounds can be analyzed using this column?
The XBridge BEH C18 Column is designed for a wide range of hydrophobic and moderately polar compounds, making it highly versatile for pharmaceutical, environmental, food, and chemical analysis applications. It is commonly used for the separation of small molecules, peptides, and some proteins, particularly in drug development, impurity profiling, and quality control.
Because of its hydrophobic C18 stationary phase, the column is ideal for analyzing lipophilic compounds, pharmaceutical drugs, metabolites, and natural products. The 130Å pore size allows it to accommodate larger molecules than columns with smaller pore sizes, making it suitable for small peptides and biomolecules. Its pH stability from 1-12 also makes it useful for acidic, neutral, and basic compounds.
What mobile phases are compatible with the XBridge BEH C18 Column?
The XBridge BEH C18 Column supports a broad range of mobile phases due to its high chemical stability and pH tolerance. It is fully compatible with aqueous and organic solvent mixtures, including water, methanol, acetonitrile, and buffers such as phosphate, ammonium acetate, and formate. The column"s ability to operate from pH 1 to 12 allows it to be used with acidic, neutral, and basic eluents, making it a flexible choice for diverse separation methods.
For high-pH applications, organic bases like triethylamine or ammonium bicarbonate can be used without the risk of silica dissolution, which is a limitation in conventional C18 columns. Similarly, for low-pH conditions, acids such as trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), formic acid, or acetic acid help improve peak shape and ionization efficiency, particularly in LC-MS applications.
Are columns performance tested?
Each XBridge column is tested individually and will arrive with a Certificate of Analysis and a Performance Test Chromatogram. The Certificate of Analysis is specific to each batch of packing material and includes an analysis of unbonded particles, analysis of bonded particles, and chromatographic results and conditions. The Performance Test Chromatogram will be specific to each column individually and includes the batch number, item serial number, USP plate count and tailing factor, retention factor, and chromatographic conditions. You can store all of this data for future reference as needed.
What is BEH Technology?
One of the key enablers behind UPLC technology, the 1.7-µm BEH (Ethylene Bridged Hybrid) particle is available in varying pore sizes and bonded phases, allowing both reversed-phase and hydrophilic interaction chromatography. The technology applies to a range of small molecule to large molecule biopharmaceutical analysis. Hybrid particle technology has intrinsic chemical stability, allowing for a wider usable pH range [pH 1-12]. This also enables a versatile, robust separation technology for method development. The BEH particle technology is available in a variety of HPLC particle sizes [2.5, 3.5, 5, and 10-µm] which allows for a seamless transition between HPLC and UPLC technology platforms.
