Product Description

ACQUITY BEH HILIC columns contain unbonded BEH substrate and are designed to retain and separate very polar compounds. These unique columns are optimized and tested to produce efficient, reproducible separations under HPLC HILIC conditions. More rugged than silica based HILIC phases, the BEH particle’s chemical stability results in long column lifetimes.

ACQUITY UPLC BEH HILIC Column, 130Å, 1.7 µm, 2.1 mm X 50 mm, 1/pk

When reversed-phase chromatography is not an option to retain and separate very polar compounds, Hydrophilic-Interaction Chromatography (HILIC) is the method preferred by scientists. Also known as ‘aqueous normal phase’ or ‘reverse reversed-phase’, the elution order in HILIC is that of a normal phase (non-polar analytes elute first), and the solvents are similar to those of reversed-phase chromatography. The ACQUITY UPLC BEH HILIC Column is based on the rugged 1.7 μm unbonded BEH particle, making them ideal to retain and separate very basic polar compounds.

This unique piece of lab equipment is extensively tested and optimized to produce separations that are efficient and reproducible under UPLC HILIC conditions. By doing this, Waters has been able to overcome a major disadvantage of HILIC stationary phases and improve chemical stability. Silica-based HILIC phases are often chemically unstable, but the BEH particle’s wide usable pH range is able to overcome this and lead to long column lifetimes. For better column preservation, you can choose to add an ACQUITY UPLC BEH HILIC VanGuard Pre-column, 130Å, 1.7 µm, 2.1 mm X 5 mm, 3/pk.

All ACQUITY UPLC BEH packing materials are created for use with the ACQUITY UPLC system and will exhibit maximum chromatographic performance and benefits only when used in tandem with the system. Each batch of material is tested chromatographically with acidic, basic, and neutral analytes, and Waters holds results to narrow specification ranges to assure superior performance. Each column includes a Performance Chromatogram and Certificate of Batch Analysis with the results of its individual testing on an eCord Intelligent Chip Technology.

What Is eCord Intelligent Chip Technology?

eCord Intelligent Chip technology is an innovative offering from Waters designed to provide the history of a column’s performance throughout its lifetime. The eCord is permanently attached to each column, ensuring that history is maintained, even when the column is moved between instruments or even laboratories. During the manufacturing process, tracking and quality control information is downloaded to the eCord. This eliminates the need for paper Certificates of Analysis Upon installation, the software automatically downloads key parameters into a file stored on the chip for easy access, reducing the frustration of paperwork trails.
