The XBridge Protein BEH C4, 300 Å, 3.5 µm, 4.6 mm x 150 mm column is QC tested and optimized to separate proteins based on size, hydrophobicity and isoelectric point. If you compare to traditional C18 phases, the C4 ligand is less retentive and will minimize protein carryover, increase protein recovery, and improve peak capacity.

XBridge Protein BEH C4 Column, 300Å, 3.5 µm, 4.6 mm X 150 mm, 10K - 500K, 1/pk
Designed to provide excellent peak shape, high efficiency, and good recovery, the packing material in XBridge Protein BEH C4 Columns are recommended for use with biological macromolecules that are too large or too hydrophobic for separation on columns with smaller pores or longer chain bonded phases. These columns use a unique base particle and bonding chemistry, chosen to provide superior stability at both high and low pH as well as at high temperatures.
Compared to similar lab equipment utilizing C18 phases, the C4 ligand used in these columns is less retentive, allowing for minimized protein carryover and increased protein recovery with improved peak capacity. The XBridge Protein BEH C4 Column is optimized and QC tested for use in protein separations and is based on Waters’ Protein Separation Technology (PrST), which is optimized to separate proteins based on their size, hydrophobicity, and isoelectric point.
The BEH particle that the XBridge Protein BEH C4 Column is based on has a pore size of 300å and is trifunctionally bonded, offering the widest usable pH range, superior low pH stability, and ultra-low column bleed for various protein-based applications.
Waters XBridge columns are manufactured in a cGMP, ISO 9002 certified plant using ultrapure reagents, and each batch of packing material is qualified with a protein test mixture. Test results are held to narrow specification ranges that ensure reproducible performance over the lifetime of each analytical column. Each column is individually tested and includes a Performance Test Chromatogram and Certification of Acceptance. Further testing can be done using Neutrals QC Reference Material.
How Should XBridge Protein BEH C4 Columns Be Stored?
For short-term storage, columns can be stored in the mobile phase with 20-50% acetonitrile. For periods exceeding four days at room temperature, columns should be stored in 100% acetonitrile. Immediately after use with elevated temperatures or at pH extremes, store the column in 100% acetonitrile in order to extend lifetime. Do not store in highly aqueous (<20% organic) mobile phases, as this may promote bacterial growth. If the mobile phase contains a buffer salt, flush the column according to guidance in your manual. Always completely seal columns to avoid evaporation and the bed drying out.
