Product Description

ACQUITY BEH Amide columns retain extremely polar compounds, including carbohydrates and sugars. Based on BEH technology the ACQUITY Amide columns offer a chemically stable, trifunctionally bonded amide phase that is stable from pH 2 to 12 to enable the separation of polar analytes that span a wide range of polarity, structural moiety and pKa.

ACQUITY UPLC BEH Amide Column, 130Å, 1.7 µm, 2.1 mm X 50 mm, 1/pk

Waters has focused on developing innovative stationary phases for Hydrophilic Interaction Chromatography (HILIC) since 2003, allowing chromatographers to overcome the challenges faced when retaining and separating extremely polar compounds. Using the patented ethylene bridged hybrid (BEH) particle, ACQUITY UPLC BEH Amide columns were built to enable new levels of stability and versatility HILIC separations by using a chemically stable, trifunctionally bonded amide phase.

Along with retaining polar analytes and metabolites that are too polar for reversed-phase chromatography, ACQUITY UPLC BEH Amide columns are an exceptional tool for the analysis of carbohydrates like monosaccharides, disaccharides, oligosaccharides, and polysaccharides. The 1.7 µm particle size enables high resolution, high-speed analysis of these carbohydrates in complex sample matrices without sacrificing chromatographic resolution. The increased chemical stability enables the use of high pH and high temperature to collapse reducing sugar anomers, shorten analysis times, and improve MS detection.

ACQUITY UPLC BEH Amide Columns facilitate the use of a wide range of mobile-phase pH, from 2 to 11, allowing for their exceptional retention of polar analytes across a wide range of polarity, structural moiety, and pKa. The high pH compatibility facilitates MS detection without the need for derivatization, post-column addition, or complexing with a metal cation, simplifying sample pre-treatment before LC.MS analysis and improving assay sensitivity.

Unlike amine-based columns typically used for carbohydrate analysis, the ACQUITY UPLC BEH Amide column is not vulnerable to Schiff base formation, allowing for improved quantitation accuracy. The column is part of the ACQUITY UPLC family, making it compatible with other lab equipment from the same line, as well as staple Waters products like the 96-well Sample Collection Plate, 700 µL Round well, 25/pk.

Can I Use ACQUITY UPLC BEH Amide Columns With Other Waters UPLC Systems?

The design, manufacturing, and testing for ACQUITY UPLC BEH Amide Columns are all specifically tailored to the ACQUITY UPLC system. They will exhibit maximum chromatographic performance and benefits only when using the system as a holistic design, as they were intended to operate together. Use with other systems may negatively impact your separations. For these reasons, Waters cannot support or guarantee the use of ACUITY UPLC columns on any system that is not an ACQUITY UPLC system.
