XBridge BEH Amide Column, 130Å, 3.5 µm, 2.1 mm X 50 mm, 1/pk
Use the Waters XBridge BEH Amide Column to retain extremely polar compounds, including carbohydrates and sugars. The lab equipment offers you a chemically stable, trifunctionally bonded amide phase that provides stability across the wide range of 2-11 so that you can easily perform the separation of polar analytes spanning a wide range of polarity, structural moiety, and pKa.
The XBridge Amide Column is based on Waters’ novel ethylene bridged hybrid (BEH) particle and utilizes a chemically stable, trifunctionally bonded amide phase to offer unprecedented stability and versatility in HILIC separations lab equipment. Waters has developed this ability as an innovative approach to overcoming the challenge of retaining and separating extremely polar compounds in HILIC stationary phases. The Xbridge column has the same selectivity as ACQUITY UPLC BEH Amide columns which makes it possible for scientists to easily transfer separations seamlessly between HPLC and UPLC technology platforms.
Designed specifically to retain polar analytes and metabolites that are too polar to retain using reversed-phase chromatography, the XBridge BEH Amide Column can support the use of a wide range of mobile phase pH, from 2 to 11. This results in the exceptional retention of polar analytes spanning a wide range in polarity, structural moiety, and pKa.
The XBridge BEH Amide Column listed here is particularly suited for the analysis of carbohydrates with the 3.5 µm particle size and 130Å pore size. This enables high resolution and high-speed analysis in complex sample matrices while maintaining or improving the chromatographic resolution.

Also explore the XBridge BEH Amide VanGuard Cartridge, 130Å, 3.5 µm, 2.1 mm X 5 mm, 3/pk, which helps to deliver reliable results as it is made using the exact packing materials as your analytical column and works by removing particulate matter from the mobile stream.
How Does Polarity Affect Separation In Chromatography?
When a polar solvent is employed instead of a non-polar solvent, polar molecules exhibit enhanced affinity towards the polar solvents and consequently migrate a greater distance. By comparing the migration distance of spots to the overall distance traveled by the solvent, one can conduct comparisons and measurements to assess the behavior of the molecules in the system. This approach provides valuable insights into the relative interactions and movements of polar molecules in different solvent environments.
