ACQUITY UPLC CSH Phenyl-Hexyl Column, 130Å, 1.7 µm, 3 mm X 100 mm, 1/pk

For chromatographers looking to achieve superior peak shape across low and high pH conditions, Waters’ Charged Surface Hybrid (CSH) particle powers this ACQUITY UPLC CSH Phenyl-Hexyl column. This piece of lab equipment provides complimentary selectivity in straight-chain alkyl phases, making it ideal for working with polyaromatic compounds. With the best reproducibility on the market, these columns offer unique column selectivity and exceptional peak shape. Loading capacity has been optimized for work with basic compounds at low and high pH, eliminating the need for ion-pair reagents and allowing for exceptional stability that facilitates advanced column equilibration and low and high pH.

The CSH technology that underpins ACQUITY UPLC CSH Phenyl-Hexyl Columns uses a controlled, low-level surface charge that provides the necessary peak shape and selectivity for low ionic strength mobile phases. The patented process begins by taking the rugged and efficient unbonded BEH particle, then applying a controlled surface charge to the particle before functionalizing using the applicable bonded phase chemistry. The end-capping process that is then used is proprietary to Waters.

Due to the low-level, controlled surface charge present in CSH particles, the trifunctionally bonded phenyl-hexyl ligand then facilitates peak shape and performance that are superior to other columns, even when using basic compounds in their ionized form under acidic mobile-phase conditions.

Results and performance are highly reproducible, as each batch of material undergoes chromatographic testing using acidic, basic, and neutral analytes, and all results are held to narrow specification ranges. For further testing, the Reversed-Phase QC Reference Material from Waters can be used.

What Are The Benefits Of Charged Surface Hybrid (CSH) Technology?

Across chemistries, CSH technology offers advantages, including superior peak shape for basic compounds and increased loading capability. Chromatographers will also see rapid equilibration of columns after changing mobile-phase pH in addition to excellent stability at low pH. All of this also comes with improved reproducibility across batches. All of the benefits of CSH are achieved without compromising necessary performance attributes like peak shape, low column bleed, ultra-efficiencies, and easy transferability between different particle sizes and column formats. With many labs using a range of vendors and LC systems, CSH allows for seamless transition between configurations and detection modes.
