Product Description

The HSS C18 packing is the most stable commercially available bonded phase and does not suffer from peak shape issues that plague older stationary phases that rely upon steric protection (and lack of endcapping) to produce stability at low pH. The HSS C18 HPLC columns are fully scalable and are completely transferable to UPLC separations.

XSelect HSS C18 Column, 100Å, 3.5 µm, 2.1 mm X 150 mm, 1/pk

XSelect HSS C18 Columns give new meaning to the concept of a broad, selective, modern HPLC column selection and have been developed to offer chromatography-specific advantages, such as increased polar compound retention. The XSelect HSS C18 Column can deliver stability at low pH and enables the analysis of 3.5-micrometer particle size, a 100-angstrom pore size, and a carbon load of 15%, all the while giving seamless transferability to UPLC separation.

A single particle substrate is not enough to meet all the chromatographic challenges; hence, Waters offers chromatographers a broad range of lab equipment ,including unique columns with carefully chosen ligands combined with proprietary Charged Surface Hybrid (CSH) and High Strength Silica (HSS) Technologies to deliver operational stability. The Charged Surface Hybrid (CSH) Technology improves LC column performance in acidic and low ionic strength mobile phases, whereas the High Strength Silica (HSS) technology was developed to complement chromatographic performance of BEH and CSH particles. Additionally, the HSS particle was specifically designed to possess the mechanical strength necessary to tolerate UPLC pressures.

The more complex a sample is, the more diverse chromatography sorbents are required to be in order to separate sample constituents. The XSelect HSS C18 Columns were designed with diverse analyte selectivity as one of the primary attributes, and with them, you have the efficiency and selectivity that enables enhanced resolution of complex samples. As the XSelect HSS C18 columns are built on the same particle technologies as ACQUITY UPLC HSS columns, it ensures reproducibility and transferability between HPLC and UPLC separations.

The XSelect HSS C18 Column can withstand pressure up to 6000 psi; however, it is recommended to maintain pressure in the 4000 - 5000 psi range to reduce risk of any system failure or leakages. You may also be interested in the XSelect HSS C18 VanGuard Cartridge, 100Å, 3.5 µm, 2.1 mm X 5 mm, 3/pk, which is designed to extend analytical column lifetime and performance of the XSelect HSS C18 columns by removing particulate contamination from the mobile phase stream.

What Is The Recommended pH Range For XSelect HSS C18 Columns?

The XSelect HSS C18 Column offers a recommended operational pH range between 1 and 8. Column lifetime will vary depending on a few factors, such as the temperature, type, and concentration.
