Spherisorb SCX Column, 80Å, 5 µm, 4.6 mm X 250 mm, 1/pk
With superior technical support and unique expertise in packing, Spherisorb SCX Columns are part of the Spherisorb family, meaning they are packed for better efficiency, peak shape, reproducibility, and a longer lifetime. These columns offer the most-used chromatographic material and a rugged silica particle that enables a longer lifetime and more flexibility in method development. Waters Spherisorb Columns are the most widely referenced HPLC columns across scientific literature, with the lab equipment appearing in over 2,000 abstracts. This gives chromatographers a wide range of validated methods and applications to assist in method development across the globe.
The Spherisorb SCX Columns contain an anionic silica-based sorbent, a strong cation-exchange sorbent that is used to separate positively charged ionic species. Operating limits include a maximum pressure of 6000 psi (415) bar and a pH range of 3 to 8.
Columns are sold individually and have an inner diameter of 4.6 mm and a length of 250 mm. For extended column lifetime and performance, you can purchase Spherisorb SCX Guard Cartridge, 80Å, 5 µm, 4.6 mm X 30 mm, 3/pk.
Every Spherisorb SCX Column is manufactured in a cGMP, ISO 9002 certified plant that is dedicated to the manufacturing of chromatography chemistry. The facility is registered with the FDA as a manufacturer of Class 1 medical devices. Each column is tested individually and includes a copy of test chromatograms produced during testing. This includes gel and batch number, column serial number, USP plate count, USP tailing factor, capacity factor, and chromatographic conditions. Waters offers a guarantee that each column will consistently meet the quality standards required by regulations in laboratories.
What Solvents Should I Use With a Spherisorb SCX Column?
In order to maintain maximum column performance, high-quality chromatography grade solvents should always be used. All aqueous buffers should also be filtered prior to use. Waters recommends the use of Pall Gelman Laboratory Acrodisc filters. Any solvents containing suspended particulate matter will generally clog the outside surface of the inlet distribution frit of your column, resulting in higher operating pressure and poorer performance. All solvents should be thoroughly degassed to prevent bubble formation in the pump and the detector. It is recommended to use an on-line degassing unit.
