Symmetry C8 Column, 100Å, 5 µm, 4.6 mm X 150 mm, 1/pk
Chemists establishing new analytical methods for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical products know how important the reproducibility of HPLC columns can be, as the selected column needs to provide the same chromatographic result across the drug’s lifetime. Demonstrating reproducibility over many years, Symmetry C8 Columns have been shown to provide the confidence needed for these applications and have been crafted with reproducibility as a top priority, while also delivering superior peak shape, high throughput, and increased resolution.
As a result of the tightest specifications in the HPLC column industry, Symmetry C8 Columns offer excellent reproducibility and are engineered with high purity raw materials in addition to tightly controlled manufacturing processes and column packing procedures. This allows scientists to have the best and most reproducible HPLC lab equipment possible, with the most rugged and robust methods that can increase laboratory productivity and facilitate easier method transfer. Surface coverage is one of the most important parameters when it comes to reproducibility, so Symmetry columns are crafted with the narrowest ligand surface coverage specifications on the market. This tight specification range allows for minimal shifts in resolution and more reproducible results between batches and columns.
Symmetry C8 Columns are also made to last over 10,000 injections with minimal loss in efficiency, minimal increase in backpressure, and minimal change in time retention. For even better lifetime performance, the column can be paired with the Symmetry C8 VanGuard Cartridge, 100Å, 5 µm, 3.9 mm X 5 mm, 3/pk to remove particulate contamination. Guaranteed consistent performance is possible by optimizing the two most important factors that control column lifetime: hydrolytic stability of the packing material and mechanical stability of the packed bed.
How Should Symmetry C8 Columns Be Stored?
In order to ensure maximum column lifetime and performance, Symmetry C8 Columns should be stored in 100% acetonitrile after being used. The column should never be stored in aqueous-based mobile phases that contain buffers or salts. If the mobile phase eluent contained acidic or alkaline additives, buffers, or salts, the column should first be flushed with at least 10 column volumes of HPLC grade water and then 15 column volumes of 100% HPLC grade acetonitrile before storage. When this is not done, it could lead to precipitation of the bugger salt in the column and degrade column performance. Be sure to completely seal the column using supplied end plugs.
