Product Description

The 6 cc Oasis HLB cartridges contain the Oasis HLB sorbent, which is a universal polymeric reversed-phase sorbent that was developed for the extraction of a wide range of acidic, basic, and neutral compounds from various matrices using a simple, generic protocol. Since the Oasis HLB sorbent is water wettable, it maintains its capability for higher retention and excellent recoveries even if the sorbent runs dry, which means there is no need to take extraordinary steps to keep the sorbent beds from drying out during the critical steps prior to sample loading. The 60 µm particle size is recommended when working with viscous samples. These syringe-barrel-type cartridges are designed for use with vacuum manifolds and automated SPE instruments.

Oasis HLB 6 cc Vac Cartridge, 500 mg Sorbent per Cartridge, 60 µm, 30/pk

Designed for the extraction of varying acidic, basic, and neutral compounds of various matrices, the Oasis HLB 6 cc Vac Cartridge uses a simple, generic protocol. These cartridges contain the Oasis HLB sorbent, a universal polymeric reversed-phase sorbent that enables a variety of uses. This reversed-phase sorbent is made from a specific ratio of two monomers to provide superior capacity with a neutral polar hook. Because it is water wettable, this sorbent maintains the capability for higher retention and good recoveries, even in cases where the sorbent may run dry. This prevents you from needing to take extra steps in order to keep sorbent beds from drying out during crucial steps before sample loading. This will save your lab precious sample processing time as well as avoid costly solvent purchase and disposal procedures.

Designed to improve and simplify the process of sample preparation, Oasis HLB Sorbent offers high capacity with low elution volumes (about 1 mL per 60 mg). Compared to silica-based sorbents, there is a higher recovery for polar metabolites like hydroxyatrazine found. Detection limits are always 100 ng/L or better and there are no stopcocks needed for routine analysis when using this sorbent.

Oasis HLB sorbent also increases speed, both within the device and in your laboratory’s workflow. The device’s flow times are not only faster, but also use less vacuum and positive pressure than required in other SPE devices.

As a syringe-barrel cartridge, these Oasis HLB cartridges feature extraordinarily clean syringe barrels and frits and are designed for use with automated SPE instruments and vacuum manifolds. Oasis HLB Sorbent undergoes a proprietary Waters cleaning process with no significant cartridge interferences. This product contains 500 mg of Oasis HLB sorbent per cartridge with 60 µm and comes with 30 in each package. A particle size of 60 µm is best used for more viscous samples.

What is a sorbent?

Sorbents are materials that have the property of collecting molecules of one substance through either absorption or adsorption. In absorption, a substance is taken or assimilated into a surface by the process of diffusion or osmosis. In contrast, adsorption is the process of adhesion of molecules of liquid or gases onto a solid particle's surface.

What's special about Oasis HLB sorbents?

Oasis HLB sorbent offers stability at pH extremes in many solvents, excellent retention of polar compounds, and a relatively hydrophobic retention capacity. Sorbents are commonly used in response to oil spills in order to remove the spilled oil from the water simply.
