Oasis MCX 96-well Plate, 30 mg Sorbent per Well, 30 µm, 1/pk
When bioanalytical scientists choose SPE products, the Oasis family of products by Waters is the top choice in the industry, known for its high SPE recovery, clean extracts, low matrix effects, and low method variability. Oasis products use patented SPE chemistries, including Oasis MCX, a mixed-mode cation-exchange reversed-phase sorbent designed for bases to overcome the challenges of conventional silica-based mixed-mode SPE sorbents.
Oasis MCX offers a strong mixed-mode cation exchange, water-wettable, polymeric sorbent that is made in a reproducible way with Waters’ patented process. This provides two modes of retention: ion-exchange and reversed-phase – on a single, stable, clean, high surface area, organic co-polymer that remains stable from pH o to 14. This also offers greater binding capacity than other sorbents, no analyte breakthrough, and no loss of recovery due to the dissolution of silica particles.
Where typical silica-based mixed-mode sorbents are synthesized using a complex process that is difficult to control and have relatively low exchange capacities ( range of 0.06 to 0.2 meq/g), the novel and well-controlled Waters production process delivers Oasis MCX with 1.0 meq/g of sulfonic-acid-ion-exchange capacity. This is beneficial for the effective use of mixed-mode SPE sorbents when extracting basic compounds from biological matrices, providing the necessary high retention capacity.
The Oasis MCX 96-well extraction plate is made using an innovative well design performed in two stages, allowing for both high throughput and high recovery. This product holds 30 mg of sorbent per well, though it is offered in other capacities to meet your needs. Shop for lab equipment and similar products that can be used in conjunction with this product, such as the CORTECS Solid Core T3 Column, 120Å, 2.7 µm, 2.1 mm X 50 mm, 1/pk.
This plate is compatible with the majority of liquid-handling robotic systems for reliable, automated, high throughput SPE and can be used on a range of manifold configurations.
What is meq/g?
Meq is a way of denoting the milliequivalent in chemistry. An equivalent is a measure of the amount of a substance that will react with a certain number of hydrogen ions. A milliequivalent then represents one-thousandth of an equivalent. This measure can be applied to certain volumes of substance, in this case, grams. You will also see milliequivalents per liter, etc. This expresses the combining power of a substance or a unit of concentration. This concept was created to account for the fact that when solutes dissolve in a solvent, creating a solution, the number of particles that disperse is dependent on the valence of the solute.
What is SPE?
Solid-phase extraction (SPE) is a technique utilized to isolate compounds dissolved or suspended in a liquid mixture, segregating them from other constituents based on their inherent chemical and physical properties. Laboratories frequently employ this method to concentrate or purify samples, thereby enhancing the accuracy of subsequent analyses.
