Oasis WAX 6 cc Vac Cartridge, 500 mg Sorbent per Cartridge, 60 µm, 30/pk
Beginning in 1996, Waters began development on the Oasis family of sorbents, a unique water-wettable polymeric sorbent, designed to be used without the conditioning or equilibration steps required with other polymeric and silica-based sorbents on the market. By circumventing the steps that were historically required for proper retention of analytes, Oasis sorbents enabled direct loading of aqueous samples without sacrificing proper recovery. Oasis WAX is a mixed-mode weak anion exchange and reversed-phase sorbent that enables fast, simple, and highly selective methods for sample preparation and cleanup.
Oasis WAX 6 cc Vac Cartridge contains 500 mg of this sorbent which has been designed to provide superior sample preparation in strong acids with stability from pH 0 to 14. Chromatographers using rugged and highly selective SPE methods choose Oasis WAX to detect, confirm, and quantify strongly acidic compounds in biological fluids. The water-wettable nature of the sorbent allows it to maintain high retention and excellent recoveries even when the sorbent has run dry. By using a novel and well-controlled production process, Waters is able to reproducibly deliver Oasis WAX with 0.6 meq/g of piperazine ion exchange capacity. The elution solvent is MS-friendly.
The benefits of Oasis WAX are delivered in Waters’ unique lab equipment in the form of a 6 cc Vac Cartridge with a syringe barrel, designed for use with automated SPE instruments and vacuum manifolds. Each package includes 30 polypropylene cartridges with individual capacities of 500 mg. The cartridges are compatible with multiple analysis products from Waters, including the Carbamate Analysis Kit.
How Should I Pretreat My Samples?
Before loading your sample, there are a number of ways you can pretreat the sample. Applying one or more of these steps may improve your results. One option is to dilute your sample 1:1 with buffer in order to improve flow during loading. You can also dilute the sample 1:1 or greater with 4% phosphoric acid or other acids available to you. Other suggestions include filtering through 0.45 µm membranes, or to centrifuge at 3000 rpm or greater. When using these suggestions, be sure to select the appropriate sorbent amount and solvent using Waters’ provided guidelines.
