The quality of the reagents and standards that you choose will directly impact the quality of your chromatographic results as well as the final products. Keeping this in mind, Waters invests extensively in the research to produce the highest quality standards and reagents that can be used in your labs across the globe. All our standards and reagents guarantee precise formulation and absolute traceability. This is because we understand that for analysis, the ability to repeatedly prepare reference materials identically over long time durations is crucial for data comparability. In addition to this, the measurements must be linked to a source reference material using an unambiguous, unbroken, and fully documented chain of comparisons.

Waters recommends that the 2-AB Glycan Performance Test Standard be used on a regular basis for benchmarking column and system performance, similar to the QCRM product line.

You may also want to explore the 2-AB Dextran Calibration Ladder, which was created to take full advantage of the BEH glycan column to assist glycan profiling.

Glycan profiles obtained from UPLC-HILIC/FLR systems can be calibrated against the 2AB-labeled dextran ladder and assigned with glucose unit (GU) values. The Waters 2-AB labeled Dextran Calibration Ladder is different from the commercially available offerings. The average molecular weight of the glucose homopolymer is higher (~4,500 Dalton). This means that the workable GU value range is twice as much as the other dextran ladder standards. The observed GU goes from 2 to 30, which improves the large glycan retention time assignment.

What Are Glycoproteins?

A glycoprotein is a molecule that consists of a carbohydrate plus a protein. Glycoproteins play essential roles in the body. For instance, in the immune system, almost all of the key molecules involved in the immune response are glycoproteins. Some naturally occurring glycoproteins include collagen, mucins, transferrin, immunoglobulins, and antibodies.
