Cation-exchange chromatography linked to mass spectrometry (CX-MS) analysis of native proteins is a reliable method of identifying micro heterogeneities in biopharmaceuticals, notably monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). Charge-variant analysis can be used with CX-MS to fingerprint chemical and enzymatic alterations that occur throughout the manufacture, purification, formulation, and storage of mAbs.
