LCGC Certified Clear Glass 12 x 32 mm Screw Neck Vial, with Cap and PTFE/Silicone Septum, 2 mL Volume, 100/pk
For chromatographers who are seeking the most reliable analytical results possible, the quality of the vials used can be an extremely important piece of lab equipment. Waters understands the vital part this equipment plays in the success of your work, which is why all LCGC Certified vials are UV-tested by HPLC. This HPLC test is able to detect trace levels of chemicals that may be used in the manufacturing or packaging processes, including lubricants, surfactants, antistatic agents, and antioxidants, which could alter or inhibit the quality control of your work. Cleanliness is ensured through tests performed on each batch of vials several days after packaging. Additional tests known as headspace GC tests are performed to determine if the silicone septa have cured properly, leading to some of the tightest industry specifications for vials. This includes compliance with all dimensional tolerance tests for height, width, neck opening, and body thickness specified for autosamplers to prevent needle damage and system downtime. All of this is done to optimize efficiency and ensure the most accurate and reproducible results possible.
This vial features a universal screw cap designed to form a superior seal. When a cap is screwed onto the vial, it applies a mechanical force that squeezes the septum between the vial rim and the cap. Screw caps require no tools or assembly. This closure is paired with a PTFE/Silicone septum and is recommended for multiple injections and sample storage. PTFE/Silicone septa offer excellent resealing characteristics and a working temperature range of -40 C to 200 C. The PTFE allows for chemical resistance until it is punctured, at which time the septum will have the chemical compatibility of silicone. The Blue, 12 x 32 mm Screw Neck Cap and PTFE/Silicone Septum, 100/pk can be replaced if needed.
What Type Of Glass Is Used For LCGC Certified Clear Glass Vials?
All Waters clear glass vials are made using type 1, 33 expansion borosilicate glass. This is the type of glass preferred by most laboratories as it is the most chemically inert glass that is obtainable for high-quality test results. The glass is made primarily of silicon and oxygen and contains trace amounts of both boron and sodium. The expansion coefficient of the glass is approximately 33 x 10 ^ -7 C. Clear glass is naturally colorless, allowing for easier visibility of the solution contained inside the vial.
