Blue, 12 x 32 mm Snap Neck Cap and Preslit PTFE/Silicone Septum, 100/pk
Waters knows that vials, caps, and sample accessories are critical pieces of lab equipment in any chromatographic field- that’s why we offer a wide array of products, including the Blue 12 x 32 Screw Neck Cap and Preslit PTFE/Silicone Septum. These caps are designed in consideration with other vial parts in order to achieve high-performing analytical instrumentation for chromatographers.
Unlike the similar crimp cap, the snap neck cap requires no tools, forming an excellent seal between the vial’s rim and the cap on its own. However, it is crucial to make sure the cap is the correct size for your vial. A cap that is too tight can lead to difficulty in applying the cap and may crack; when too loose, the seal will be inadequate and the septum may dislodge.
This snap neck cap is paired with a Preslit PTFE/Silicone septum, made to provide adequate venting and prevent vacuum formation in the sample vial. This creates superior sample-draw reproducibility and eliminates coring from bottom draw-port needles. Laboratories can also benefit from the good resealing ability, making these septa recommended for multiple injections. The working temperature range is -40 C to 200 C. Waters recommends these septa for venting and accurate sample draw.
These caps are compatible with Clear Glass 12 x 32 mm Snap Neck Vial, 2 mL Volume, 100/pk and other similar Waters vials. Each order includes 100 caps.
As a part of vial manufacturing, each cap is tested extensively for quality and cleanliness, ensuring that manufacturing, handling, and packaging have all been handled properly. This includes the assurance that the cap is free of any potential contaminants that could cause chromatographic ghost peaks. These standards help ensure reliable and reproducible analytical results.
How Is A Snap Neck Cap Different From A Crimp Cap?
Crimp caps and snap neck caps have similar functions when applied to vials. However, crimp caps require the use of additional tools, namely a crimping tool that forms the cap around the lip of the glass vial. For small volumes of samples, a manual crimper can be used, but for laboratories with large numbers of samples, the use of automated crimpers is preferred. While snap neck caps are more efficient, they may be more prone to cracking and other damage or an improper seal that compromises sample storage.
