Waters is a leader in analytical laboratory instruments and software, with a comprehensive range of laboratory automation equipment designed to enhance the efficiency, reproducibility, and accuracy of laboratory workflows. From liquid chromatography (LC) to mass spectrometry (MS), Waters' automation solutions cater to diverse industries, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, environmental sciences, and academic research.

Advanced Liquid Handling Systems

The heart of Waters' laboratory automation portfolio is advanced liquid handling systems that streamline the preparation and handling of samples. These systems are designed to ensure precise and reproducible results, minimizing manual intervention and reducing the risk of human error. The liquid handling platforms, like Andrew+ and OneLab software, offer seamless integration into existing laboratory workflows, ensuring traceability and consistency in sample preparation.

Robust Sample Preparation Solutions

Waters provides a variety of sample preparation solutions, including the Otto SPEcialist Positive Pressure Manifold. This semi-automated system is specifically designed for solid-phase extraction (SPE), enhancing the reproducibility and efficiency of SPE processes. With programmable pressure profiles and user-friendly software, the Otto SPEcialist reduces user variability, ensuring consistent and high-quality sample preparation across different users and labs.

Automation-Ready Application Kits

For better adoption of automation in laboratories, Waters offers automation-ready application kits. These kits are meticulously designed to be compatible with various automation platforms, providing detailed user guides and verified platform scripts for seamless deployment. These kits are ideal for high-throughput applications, including the GlycoWorks Rapi Fluor-MS N-Glycan Automation Kit, which facilitates efficient glycoprotein sample preparation with minimal user intervention.

Integrated Analytical Solutions

Waters' automation solutions are not limited to sample preparation but extend to the entire analytical workflow. The Automation Portal, for instance, allows for the integration of Waters' analytical LC systems, such as ACQUITY UPLC and Arc HPLC systems, into automated workflows. This integration is crucial for enhancing throughput and maintaining consistent analytical performance across different batches and experiments.

User-Friendly Software Interfaces

A key feature of Waters' laboratory automation equipment is the emphasis on user-friendly software interfaces. The Otto software, for instance, provides an intuitive touchscreen interface that simplifies method development and real-time manipulation of pressure profiles. This ease of use ensures that both novice and expert users can quickly adapt to the system, reducing the need for extensive training and allowing for rapid implementation of automation in laboratory processes.

Compact and Versatile Designs

Waters' laboratory automation equipment is designed with the modern laboratory in mind. The compact form factors of devices like the Otto SPEcialist Positive Pressure Manifold and other liquid handling systems ensure that they fit easily on laboratory benches or under hoods, making them suitable for laboratories with limited space. Despite their compact size, these devices offer robust performance and versatility, capable of handling a wide range of sample volumes and processing needs.

Whether for routine analysis or complex research applications, Waters' automation solutions are designed to meet the evolving needs of modern laboratories, driving scientific discovery and innovation.

What volume range can the Andrew+ Pipetting Robot work with?

The volume range that the Andrew+ Pipetting Robot can work with is from 0.2μL to 10mL for single-channel pipettes and from 0.2μL to 1.2mL for 8-ch pipettes.

Does the Andrew+ Pipetting Robot fit in a hood?

Andrew+ is compatible with the majority of chemical fume hoods, vertical laminar flow cabinets, and safety cabinets available on the market. For more details, please refer to our Help Center article: Compatible Hoods to Host Andrew.

Can the Andrew+ Pipetting Robot work with my LIMS system?

Yes, you can connect the Andrew+ Pipetting Robot via OneLab to Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) using the OneLab Enterprise deployment.

Can we change the number of samples without having to rewrite the whole protocol when using OneLab?

Yes, OneLab can efficiently adapt your protocol based on your sample selection and file information, thanks to its dynamic protocol feature and advanced smart adaptation algorithm. For each method execution, the dynamic protocol allows you to select the number of samples to prepare or introduce new information by importing a compatible file (e.g., from a LIMS). For more details, please refer to our Help Center article: Execute a Dynamic Protocol and Use the Smart Adaptation Algorithm.

Can I use 12-channel pipette on the Andrew+ Robot?

No, Andrew+ is not compatible with 12-channel pipettes. However, 12-channel pipettes are compatible with Pipette+, not Andrew+.

How easy is the Andrew+ Pipetting Robot to program?

Programming the Andrew+ Pipetting Robot is incredibly easy—so much so that you don't need to program it at all! The OneLab software is designed to describe the protocol and the "science behind" your experiment. OneLab automatically converts your protocol into a set of commands for Andrew+ and its connected devices, eliminating the need for manual programming.

What is the size of the Andrew+ Pipetting Robot?

The Andrew+ weighs only 16 kg and stands 606.5 mm tall. The required working area for the Andrew+ Robot depends on the complexity of the protocol. Depending on the number of consumables, one or more Dominos may be needed. The image below illustrates the maximum working area of the Andrew+ Robot when used with 11 Dominos.

How many dominos can the Andrew+ Pipetting Robot use at once?

11 is the maximum number of Dominos that Andrew+ can handle in a single experiment. However, if the connected device Extraction+ is used, Andrew+ can manage up to 12 positions, with up to 4 additional connected devices alongside Extraction+.

Can I use any pipettes with the Andrew+ Pipetting Robot?

No, Andrew+ can handle only our Bluetooth Electronic Pipettes, which are based on the Sartorius Picus Pipettes.

Do you have any positive-displacement pipettes?

No, Waters does not offer and positive-displacement pipettes.

Can any of the dominos stack plates?

No, dominos cannot stack well plates.
