Overcome the Challenges of Sugar Analysis

Minimize matrix effects to ensure swift and accurate detection of sugars. Our novel HILIC stationary phase in the BEH Amide column provides excellent retention and separation, and BEH particle technology gives exceptional column lifetime and assay robustness. This means more confidence for consistent routine analysis. The increased chemical stability of the stationary phase allows for the use of high pH and high temperature to collapse reducing sugars, shorten analysis times and incorporate MS detection into workflows.

Accurate and Reliable Analysis

High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is a common technique used for the analysis of sugars in beverages. The use of HPLC allows for the separation of mono and disaccharides, providing information on the types of sugar present and quantities. Very little sample preparation is required for beverage samples prior to HPLC analysis, allowing for an accurate, reliable and efficient approach to ensure products are within specification and meet label claims. Using either the dependable Arc HPLC, or the ACQUITY UPLC H-Class PLUS system, standardized procedures for the analysis of sugars are easily integrated into manufacturing quality control laboratories.

Flexible Detection Options

Providing accurate information about sugar content on food product labels, in order to comply with increasingly stringent regulatory demands is challenging because they lack chromophores within their compound structures. The 2414 Refractive Index (RI) Detector is the ideal solution for the analysis and quantification of components with limited or no UV absorption, such as sugars. The 2414 has several innovations allowing for a wide, repeatable measurement range often required for beverage testing applications. The ACQUITY QDa Detector provides complimentary detection to RI allowing for the increased selectivity achieved using mass detection. The use of MS detection allows for a decrease in detection limits as well as the ability to obtain mass spectral information on components in a sample. The combination of chromatographic retention time and mass information can provide improved selectivity for the profiling of sugars and sugar alcohols.
