Waters has a solution for your peptide separations.

We offer a wide variety of reversed-phase columns for the analysis and lab-scale isolation of a wide range of peptides (large and small, acidic and basic, hydrophobic and hydrophilic). These unique columns are based on innovative particle technologies that include Waters' Ethylene-Bridged Hybrid (BEH) and Charged Surface Hybrid (CSH™) offerings which are exclusively quality tested with tryptic protein digests to help ensure consistent batch-to-batch and column-to-column performance consistency. Nano, capillary, analytical, and lab-scale preparative columns are available in a wide range of particle sizes (1.7 µm to 10 µm) that address specific peptide application needs. In addition to these premier hybrid-based particle offerings, Waters also offers a series of silica-based, reversed-phase column chemistries that provide different peptide separation selectivities.

Waters Peptide CSH C18 Columns expand upon Waters BEH Technology™ in a unique way. The addition of a well-controlled, low level surface charge makes this particle particularly well suited for LC-MS applications using non-TFA mobile phases.

Waters Peptide HSS Columns are designed for separations where silica-based selectivities are desired or if separations are insufficient when using the BEH and CSH columns. This stationary phase provides increased retentivity for peptides.

Waters Peptide BEH C18 Columns provide the most flexibility for the development of UPLC, UHPLC, HPLC, and lab-scale peptide applications ranging from synthetic peptides to complex peptide maps.

BEH (Ethylene-Bridged Hybrid)

CSH (Charged Surface Hybrid)

HSS (High Strength Silica)

  • Ideally suited for separation of a wide range of peptides: large and small, acidic and basic, hydrophilic and hydrophobic
  • Stable across a wide pH range (pH 1-11) to change selectivities by adjusting pH
  • High temperature stability (up to 80 °C) expands method development capabilities
  • Outstanding peak capacity and superior peak shape in trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) or formic acid (FA) ion pair eluents when compared to 100% silica based C18 columns
  • Two pore sizes (130Å and 300Å) provide different separation selectivities for a wide range of peptides and small proteins

Trifunctional C18 ligand, fully end-capped, bonded to Ethylene-Bridged Hybrid (BEH) substrate.

  • Outstanding peak capacities with formic acid for MS-based applications
  •  Excellent performance with TFA for optical based applications
  • Accepts greater peptide mass loads than many competitive technologies for detection of low-level impurities
  • Offers unique selectivity when compared to BEH C18 columns
  • Optimal for separations from pH 1-5
  • The 130Å pore size is best suited for compounds less than 10,000 Daltons
  • Separations that require silica-based selectivity
  • Separations that necessitate increased peptide retention
  •  Ideally suited for small, hydrophilic peptides

Column Quality Control

Columns specifically QC tested with tryptic digests of cytochrome c (P/N 186006371) to ensure column-column consistency with validated methods.

Columns  specifically QC tested with tryptic digests of cytochrome c  (P/N 186006371) using 0.1% FA-containing eluents for LC-MS applications.

Unlike the hybrid particles, the HSS particles are not specifically QC tested using tryptic digests, but they are still manufactured with strict, quality control tests for batch-to-batch consistency.
