Product Description

ACQUITY UPLC HSS C18 chemistry is an ultra-performance general purpose C18 bonded phase that provides superior peak shape for bases, increased retention (vs. ACQUITY UPLC BEH C18 columns), and extremely long column lifetimes at low pH. ACQUITY HSS C18 columns are fully scalable and transferable to HPLC separations. The VanGuard pre-column connects directly to the inlet of the ACQUITY UPLC column which minimizes extra columns volumes and reduces leaking by eliminating additional connections.

ACQUITY UPLC HSS C18 VanGuard Pre-column, 100Å, 1.8 µm, 2.1 mm X 5 mm, 3/pk

In order to protect and prolong analytical column lifetimes without compromising chromatographic performance, VanGuard Pre-columns were created as a critical piece of lab equipment. The often complex sample matrices used in pharmaceutical, natural product, environmental, and industrial chemical analysis can prematurely shorten lifetimes in analytical columns and degrade performance. ACQUITY UPLC HSS C18 VanGuard Pre-columns can improve performance by removing particulate and chemical contamination that may be present in mobile-phase streams.

This pre-column is made for use with the ACQUITY UPLC HSS C18 Column, 100Å, 1.8 µm, 3 mm X 100 mm, 1/pk, an ultra-performance general purpose C18 bonded phase. On its own, this chemistry providers superior peak shape for bases, increased retention (when compared with ACQUITY UPLC BEH C18 columns), and extremely long lifetimes at a low pH. These columns would also be transferable and scalable to HPLC separations as necessary. The VanGuard pre-column then connects directly to the inlet of these columns, minimizing extra column volumes and reducing leaking by eliminating additional connections.

The patented, one-piece design of the ACQUITY UPLC HSS C18 VanGuard Pre-column does not compromise a holistic approach to gaining higher efficiency, greater resolution, or increased throughout characteristic of ACQUITY UPLC separations. The 2.1 xx x 5 mm dimensions allow for low dispersion and availability in all ACQUITY UPLC Column stationary phases.

As a universal solution to extend column lifetimes, simply replacing the cartridge of your more expensive columns in order to regenerate the original separation performance. The pre-column includes a reusable holder, designed with an adjustable ferrule so that it can be attached to any column inlet.

What Are The Operating Limits Of ACQUITY UPLC HSS C18 VanGuard Pre-Columns?

Operational temperatures up to 90 degrees C are recommended for use with all VanGuard Column Protection products. These products can also tolerate operating pressures up to 18,000psi (1241 bar or 124 MPa). The pH range is pH 1 to pH 8. All solvents used should also be high quality and chromatography grade to ensure results and optimal chromatographic performance. Note that working at the extremes of pressure, pH, and/or temperature will lead to short column lifetimes. It is important to ensure that method conditions do not exceed the specifications for analytical columns.
