XTerra MS C18 Column, 125Å, 5 µm, 4.6 mm X 250 mm, 1/pk
With universal acceptance by pharmaceutical scientists, XTerra columns have become the fastest-selling and most successful columns for drug discovery, method development, and isolation and purification chromatography as a result of their reliance on Hybrid Particle Technology. Drug discovery scientists appreciate the DMSO injection-resistance achieved with the rugged XTerra particle, while method development scientists can now operate at any pH necessary for optimal selectivity. For isolation and purification scientists, the high mass loading capacity enables loads of up to 60x more material per injection. Hybrid Particle Technology also allows for fewer residual silanols that results in exceptionally sharp, high-efficiency peaks for base compounds.
By combining the best elements of both silica and polymers, XTerra MS C18 Columns and XTerra MS C8 Column, 125Å, 5 µm, 4.6 mm X 150 mm, 1/pk provide a rugged piece of lab equipment with high mechanical strength, high efficiency, superior peak shape for bases, and easy scale-up between analytical and preparative chromatography. Because they are designed to be compatible with Mass Spectrometry applications, XTerra chemistries off sharp peaks, good sensitivity, and large peak capacities in a way that is normally only found by employing embedded polar group technology. The tri-functional bonding chemistries in the XTerra MS C18 Column offer long lifetimes over a wide pH range (1-12) and maximum throughput without sacrificing excellent resolution and ultra-low bleed.
The process of manufacturing XTerra Columns begins with ultrapure reagents that control the chemical composition and purity of the Hybrid particle used. Each manufacturing step is then conducted within narrow tolerances and each column is tested individually. Superior reproducibility is ensured as all Waters columns are manufactured in cGMP, ISO 9002 certified facilities.
How Should I Store XTerra MS C18 Columns?
In order to achieve maximum column lifetime and performance, columns should be stored in 100% acetonitrile after use. The column should not be stored in aqueous-based mobile phases containing buffers or salts- if the mobile phase eluent contained acidic or alkaline additives, buffers, or salts, flush the column with 10 column volumes of HPLC grade water, then 15 column volumes of 100% HPLC grade acetonitrile before storage. This will prevent precipitation of the buffer salt and degradation of column performance. Be sure to completely seal the column using supplied end plugs to avoid evaporation and drying out of the bed.
